New drain pipework and gully fitted by Jet Plumb

Waste and Drainage Plumbing Fixed Properly

Jet Plumb takes on the plumbing repairs Gloucestershire homes and businesses need most often: blocked and leaking sinks, toilets, showers and baths, plus washing machine and dishwasher outlets, wastes and traps.

Because we are drainage specialists as well as plumbers, we can follow a problem from the plughole to the main drain outside and fix it wherever it starts. There is no call-out charge, quotes are free, and we bring over 20 years of experience to every job, large or small. We work for homeowners, tenants, landlords and businesses alike.

From the plughole to the main drain

Small Leaks Cause Big Damage

A slow drip from a waste pipe or trap can soak into cupboards, floors and ceilings for months before anyone notices. By then you may be dealing with rot, damp and staining as well as the leak itself. Stains on a ceiling below a bathroom, a musty smell in a kitchen cupboard or a loose floor around a toilet are all clues worth acting on.

Fixing a loose fitting or a perished seal early is far simpler, so call us at the first sign of water where it should not be.

Plumbing Repairs We Carry Out

Our plumbing work focuses on the pipes and fittings that carry water away from your sinks, baths, showers, toilets and appliances. When one of these blocks or leaks, we find the cause, clear or repair it, and make sure it is draining properly before we leave. Most of these jobs are small, but left alone they can lead to flooding, damp or a blocked drain outside.

Blockages are usually caused by hair, soap, grease, food waste or items flushed by mistake. We clear them with the right tool for the job rather than harsh chemicals, which can damage pipes over time. If the blockage is further down the line, we can rod or jet the drain outside and use a camera to check the pipe.

Leaks are traced back to their source, whether that is a cracked trap, a loose joint, a failed seal under a toilet or a split waste pipe, and the faulty part is repaired or replaced. Where a part has failed, we replace it with a suitable fitting rather than patching it up.

Every repair is carried out by an experienced engineer, and like all our work, it is fully insured and guaranteed.

  • Blocked kitchen and bathroom sinks
  • Blocked or leaking toilets
  • Slow-draining or leaking showers and baths
  • Washing machine and dishwasher outlets
  • Leaking wastes, traps and waste pipes
  • Smells from dry or faulty traps

Kitchen Sink Wastes

Grease, food scraps and coffee grounds gradually choke a kitchen waste. We clear the trap and pipework, check the connection to the drain outside and fix any leaks around the plughole or the waste fittings beneath the sink.

Bath and Shower Drains

Hair and soap residue form tight clogs in bath and shower traps. We remove the blockage, clean out the trap and repair leaking waste seals, which can quietly damage the floor or ceiling below for months before anyone notices.

Toilet Repairs

We clear blocked pans, repair leaks where the toilet joins the waste pipe and replace failed pan connectors. If the toilet is slow to empty because of a problem in the soil pipe or the drain outside, we deal with that too.

Appliance Outlet Repairs

Washing machines and dishwashers pump waste water out fast, so a partly blocked standpipe or trap overflows quickly. We clear and refit outlets and connect them correctly to the waste pipe so the kitchen or utility floor stays dry.

Trap and Pipe Replacement

Cracked, loose or badly fitted traps cause both leaks and smells. We repair or replace traps and sections of waste pipe under sinks, basins, baths and showers, and check the falls so water runs away as it should.

Tracing Drain Smells

A smell from a plughole can come from a dry trap, a damaged seal or a blockage further down the system. We track down the source and put it right, using a drain camera if the problem turns out to lie outside.

Every repair fully insured and guaranteed

No Gas, Boilers or Heating

We concentrate on what we know best: water and waste. That means sinks, toilets, showers, baths, appliance outlets and the drains they connect to.

We do not carry out gas work, boiler repairs or heating installation. If your problem involves any of these, you will need a qualified gas or heating engineer. Being clear about this up front means you get the right trade the first time.

Repairs for Landlords and Businesses

Landlords and letting agents use us for tenant call-outs because we call back, turn up when we say and keep everyone informed. We can arrange access with tenants and report back once the job is done. Letting agents also appreciate a clear explanation of what was wrong and what we did to fix it.

For cafes, restaurants, hotels and offices, we deal with blocked kitchen wastes, washroom toilets and sinks with as little disruption as possible. Commercial kitchens can also benefit from our grease trap maintenance, which keeps fat out of the waste pipes and drains in the first place.

Contract work is welcome if you manage several properties and want one dependable contact for waste and drainage repairs across the county. Commercial and industrial customers are always welcome.

Signs a Repair Is Overdue

Plumbing faults tend to start small and get worse. Book a visit if you notice:

  • Water that drains slowly or not at all
  • Drips or damp under sinks and baths
  • Stained ceilings below a bathroom
  • A toilet that rocks, leaks at the base or will not flush away
  • Unpleasant smells rising from plugholes
  • Bubbling noises as a basin or bath empties
  • Water left in the washing machine or dishwasher after a cycle

Plumbing Repairs FAQs

Common questions about plumbing repairs in Gloucestershire.

We repair blocked or leaking sinks, toilets, showers and baths, washing machine and dishwasher outlets, and the wastes, traps and pipes that connect them to the drains. We do not carry out gas work, boiler repairs or central heating, which need a specialist heating engineer.

Kitchen sinks usually block because fat, grease and food scraps build up in the trap and waste pipe. Bathroom basins tend to collect hair and soap. If a sink blocks again soon after being cleared, the problem may sit further down the drain, which we can check and clear for you.

We would advise against relying on it. Harsh chemicals can damage traps, seals and older pipes, and they rarely shift a solid blockage. They also make the job more hazardous for whoever clears the drain afterwards. If hot water and a plunger have not worked, it is time to call us.

The cause is often a blocked outlet hose, standpipe or trap where lint and detergent residue collect, or a blocked waste pipe that the machine shares with the sink. We check the outlet and the pipework it drains into and clear the blockage. Faults inside the machine itself are a job for an appliance engineer.

It should be looked at promptly. Water around the base usually means a failed seal or loose connection between the pan and the waste pipe, and every flush can soak the floor beneath. Left alone, it can damage floorboards and the ceiling below. We trace the leak and repair the connection.

A common cause is a dry trap in a basin, bath or shower that has not been used for a while, which lets drain gases through. Running the tap for half a minute often fixes it. If the smell stays, a cracked waste pipe or a blockage further down may be to blame.

Yes. We carry out plumbing and drainage repairs for private landlords, letting agents and property managers across Gloucestershire. We can arrange access with tenants, keep you informed while the work is done and let you know if we spot anything else that needs attention. Contract work for multiple properties is welcome.
